We Believe

Based on our understanding of the Bible, we believe …

The Bible

The Bible is the word of God, written by humans, inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible is infallible and the basis of our belief. The Holy Scriptures reveal God’s plan and Good News to us and serve as perfect source of wisdom and knowledge and as primary authority for all decisions in our lives.

The Holy Trinity

There is one God, the source of all love, who is all-knowing and all-powerful. God exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Man

Man was created in the image of God, and because of sin was alienated from God. That alienation can be removed only by accepting, through faith, God’s gift of salvation which was made possible by Christ’s atoning death and resurrection.

Sin

Since the fall all human beings (except Jesus, the Son of God) are sinners. The penalty of sin is death.

Salvation

Human beings can be saved and receive eternal life through God’s grace that enables our faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who entered into time and space. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, crucifixion, resurrection, bodily ascension into heaven, present intercession for us, and His return to earth. Through His sacrificial death the sins of all humans who trust in Him for their salvation were atoned.

Grace

Through God’s grace human beings are enabled to receive faith in Jesus Christ as the Messiah.

Covenant

God loves His people – the church. Those humans are in a covenant, that is, a loving relationship and bond, with God who blesses them.

Church

The Church is the community of all people in the world who trust in Jesus Christ as their personal savior. Christ is the Head of the Church. Members of the Church constitute one family. All believers are to assemble together regularly for worship, for edification through the Holy Scriptures, and for mutual encouragement. Christians help one another love, serve and glorify God as well as love and support each another and follow Christ.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit indwells all believers and gives them strength and wisdom to fight sin and to trust and follow Jesus Christ.

Creation

God created the universe, including all creatures and human beings on earth. Humans were created in the image of God and given dominion over the flora and fauna.

Marriage

Marriage is a covenant and institution designed by God for a union between one man and one woman.

Family

Marriage is the basis for the foundation of a family and for a man and a woman to raise their children in obedience to God.

Sexual Relations

A sexual union is meant for a wife and a husband within the life-long commitment of a marriage. Sexual relations outside marriage are considered impure and immoral.

Commandments

God loves human beings. And He gives us the command to reflect that love to Him and to other people. We are to love God with all our heart and with all our soul, with all our strength and with all our mind, and to love others as ourselves.

Judgement

Jesus will return to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself.

Resurrection

Jesus Christ was resurrected. And all humans will be resurrected and have eternal life. Believers and non-believers will spend eternity in different places.

Great Commission

Jesus Christ commanded all of His followers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to disciple people in every nation.

Commitment

Believers submit worldly and personal ambitions to a commitment to Jesus, “who loved us and gave Himself for us”.

Eternity

Those who trust in Christ as their Savior will spend eternal life with fellow believers and Jesus and enjoy God’s presence and abundant love. Non-believers will suffer eternal judgement.
